Respiratory Therapists (RTs) are regulated health care professionals who monitor, evaluate and treat individuals with respiratory and cardio-respiratory disorders. Breathing is often something we take for granted yet breathing well is critical in order for us to carry out our normal activities of daily living. Many things can contribute to breathing difficulties such as: rising levels of air pollution, allergies, smoking, and an aging population. Chronic lung conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are more common as a result of these contributing factors. The RT is an integral part of our team and offers support to our patients by working with them to improve their overall respiratory health.
